Police to Question Yang Hyun Suk
Police to Question Yang Hyun Suk Regarding Suspicions Of Covering Up B.I’s Past Drug Incident in 2016. According to Soompi On November 5, the Gyeonggi Southern Provincial Police Agency stated that they will question Yang Hyun Suk regarding the allegations that he threatened “A” over her testimony about B.I’s alleged purchase of LSD and marijuana in 2016.
A source from the police stated, “It is true that we sent a request to Yang Hyun Suk to attend questioning. As the investigation is carried out privately, we cannot reveal whether Yang Hyuk Suk is being questioned as someone with information about the case or as a suspect.”
The allegations that Yang Hyun Suk threatened “A” to change her testimony about B.I came to light in June, when “A” reported to the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission about suspicions of YG Entertainment’s corrupt ties to the police.
“A” was arrested by the police for using marijuana on August 22, 2016. During the first two rounds of police questioning, “A” testified that she took marijuana with B.I and gave him LSD after he asked her to get it for him, and she submitted text messages exchanged between them as evidence. However, after the meeting with YG Entertainment, which allegedly took place on August 26, 2016, “A” went in for the third round of questioning and changed her original testimony to say that B.I never did drugs.
According to the police officer who was in charge of the cast at the time, “A” argued that her original testimony was false because her judgement was impaired due to the effects of using marijuana. As a result, the police ended up forwarding only “A” to prosecution.
Following the news, questions were raised on whether the police conducted a proper investigation into the incident or showed special favor to B.I due to the ties to YG Entertainment. As a result, the Gyeonggi Southern Provincial Police Agency launched a special task force to reinvestigate the incident. B.I was summoned for questioning under the status of someone with information about the case, after which the police booked him on suspicions of violating the Act on the Control of Narcotics, Etc.
